What have we been doing?

Here are just a selection of photos of what we enjoyed doing over the past year! Scroll down to see the events and photos in more detail.

2024-25

People who help us. We have visited the lifeboat station and invited in the police and our lovely lollypop lady to talk about how they help us and what we can do to help ourselves and others. We even had a blast of the police siren! We will be visiting the lifeguards soon and hopefully the fire station.

The Dorset Garden Trust gave us a grant of £300 which will enable us to buy some new planters for the vegetables for the children to grow. We also raised £50 with our Easter tombola which allowed us to be new garden tools for the children to dig dig dig.

Choo Choo All Aboard! We had some very excited children when we went on the steam train to Corfe Castle. We were very lucky and the Guard let us stay on to Norden to see the engine switch over and reconnect. After a lovely stroll around the Model Village, we ended up in the play park for a good adventure play!

We have been celebrating Easter in style, whether that is in our supercool Easter bonnets, making our own Easter nests, Spring sheep displays or ceramic eggs.

We have been making our own music outside with a variety of instruments.

The children really enjoyed doing our nativity of ‘A Bundle of Joy.’ They sung their hearts out and performed amazingly to a packed room of parents and family.

We took a walk down to the Making Memories Cafe at the Mowlem with Dementia Friendly Purbeck and we also spotted lots of work going on.

We visited the Emmanuel Baptist Church Christmas Tree Festival where we found our Christmas tree and took part in a little nativity.

AllSortd came to visit us; this time singing lots of Christmas songs

Our very own Christmas tree decorated by our children! A Christmas explosion!

We made ourselves some healthy muffins-banana and spinach yummy!

JoYoga comes once a week to do yoga with the children. They enjoy seeing what shapes they can manage or what animals they look like.

We invited one of our parents who is a Veterinary nurse to come and teach the children a little bit about what she does. The children listened really well and learned how they look after our animals.

We helped raise money for Children in Need by colouring in our own Pudsy marks, making Pudsy biscuits and of course wearing our pj’s or spotty clothes.

Pumpkins are used, not just at Halloween, but are a good fun learning resource!

This week at Cygnets are learning all about Diwali the festival of light and have been very busy making our own beautiful diyas lanterns

We had a great day at Salt Pig the Farm Putlake

The children loved looking at all the animals, feeding the goats, playing in the soft play and the outdoor play park before finishing the day off with an ice cream!

Cygnets have been raising money for Dogs Trust by going on a sponsored Paw Patrol walk around Townsend. The children spotted lots of different things along our walk and loved how the leaves ‘crunched” and the mud “squelched” under our feet! We are very proud of how well our little Cygnets walked and helped each other when the path was “tricky”.

Here at Cygnets we are working with The Big Brush Club NHS to prevent decay by encouraging our children to brush their teeth with fluoride toothpaste once a day at preschool and twice a day at home to form positive lifetime habits!

AllSort’d came to say hello and sign some songs with us. They taught us some new signs for our songs. We enjoyed showing them our preschool and what we play with.

What sights of nature we saw on our Nature Walk!

Out and about in our lovely seaside town. Icecreams, the park and the beach. Just a few of the places we explored.

We would love to thank HK Law for their amazing REX1 truck. The children have loved having rides in it.

All about me! We love learning about ourselves and the similarities and differences we have to others

2023-24

A special day for our school leavers! Farmer Palmers and graduation!

Summer fun and sports day

Handa’s surprise- We read the story, went to the market and tried some fruits

Oh we do like to be beside the seaside, oh we do like to be beside the sea

A project on those who help us- Police, fire, lollipop, coastguard and lifeboat. We even had to visit the firestation twice, due to a call out.

Choo choo- a trip to Corfe Castle on the train

Our own florist, followed by a trip to the local one.

Whether it is in our garden or in pots, we like to grow our own vegetables and flowers

Out and about in our lovely community

I don’t know if Bob can fix it, but our Cygnets can!

Exploring outer space in our space ship with our very own astronauts.

Flower Power! Exploring the colours, textures and smells.

We are great movers in our Mini Athletics whether it is inside or out.

We welcomed Dave from the Italian Bakery to show us how to make some delicious cookies.

We celebrated Christmas inside at Preschool and out in the community- Gainsborough Care Home, Emmanuel Baptist Church and through town.

We enjoyed autumn activities- crunching in leaves and helping raise money for Children in Need. We also carved out our own pumpkin and explored the textures inside.

2022-23

We have visited The Dementia Friendly Cafe held at the Mowlem. We chatted with the people there and sang some songs.

We have visited the lovely residents at Gainsborough care home. We enjoyed a ride on the bus there and back and loved sitting on the top deck. We chatted with the residents and did some singing for/with them.

We walked to the market to buy some bread and fruit. On the way we saw the trains and at the market there was lots to see on the different stalls.
